Senior Manager, Commercial and Contracts

Your next role
Join our Melbourne office as our Sr. Manager of Commercial and Contracts. This role is exciting yet challenging and requires a confident professional who is able to negotiate commercially while effectively maintaining important relationships, along with the ability to resolve highly complex problems, use sound judgement, and develop creative solutions. This is an opportunity to take on unique challenges, expand your skillset, and contribute to an industry leading Air Traffic Modernisation initiative.
Focusing on current projects and clients, you will contribute to the end-to-end commercial management of these major contracts. As a Subject Matter Expert, you will ensure company compliance with government regulations, corporate policies, and best practices. You will also be involved with analyzing, preparing, and negotiating contractual agreements as the business opportunity presents.
What the role will involve:
- Act as an advisor for proposal and contract execution, including detailed risk analysis and offering sound business advice and guidance for all critical pursuits.
- Lead the management of a complex head contract, which includes relationship management, beginning-to-end contract management, and maintenance of schedules, coordinating responses, identifying risks, and ensuring a smooth and efficient delivery to the customer.
- Proactive management of high volumes of change. This requires an ability to follow the contractual change process and other change mechanisms developed to ensure timely responses, working closely with subcontract teammates to ensure our subcontractors meet deadlines, evaluating change information, consolidating information into concise and effective contractual documentation, commercially negotiating contractual clauses and pricing, and understanding the flow-downs between the head contract and the subcontracts.
- Managing and working collaboratively with the broader Commercial and Contracts Team and ensuring all commitments are met. Develop strong customer relationships within the program teams, interacting frequently with senior leadership, and working as a team to resolve issues.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s or Graduate Degree with substantive experience in proposals, developing contract terms and conditions, and identifying associated commercial risk as they relate to a work scope.
- Tertiary qualifications in a relevant discipline (Contract Management, Commerce, Law, etc.) from a recognized institution, and/or equivalent relevant commercial experience.
Preferred Additional Skills:
- Demonstrated experience with commercial contracting/subcontracting, preferable ability to manage services-based contracts/subcontracts.
- Strong interpersonal, and verbal communication skills necessary for working in a collaborative and positive team environment.
- Proven ability dealing with high volumes of change management.
