Job Description:
Responsible for the development, implementation, leadership, and measurement of Product and Process Quality Management. Leads projects, provides training, logistical and infrastructural assistance for quality initiatives. Ensures internal, customer, regulatory and 3rd party requirements are defined, measured, and continuously improved. Leads root cause and corrective action to address product and process non-conformances and compliance gaps. Drives early cross functional engagement initiatives to ensure quality is built into the design and processes. Is responsible for developing and implementing inspection planning, testing and evaluation methods to verify product repeatability and reproducibility. Develops budget, monitors expenditures and leads a Quality team comprised of Quality Engineering and Quality Technicians. May oversee program/project execution through review of proposals and completion of gate reviews.
Essential Functions:
- Support the delivery of high quality, cost competitive products to support business demand.
- Manage and develop a team of Quality Engineers to support production and customer quality requirements while maintaining budgetary performance to direct labor yields.
- Provide technical leadership to improve the manufacturability and quality of products to drive Zero Defect Plans, reduce customer escapes, and drive Quality into the process.
- Provide input for development of quality standards, metrics, specifications and procedures tied to production and process quality including inspection and manufacturing.
- Drive the Quality Engineering team to execute standard work across all product lines, ensuring effective root cause and corrective action of high driving failure modes.
- Ensure compliance to company policies, business processes, and regulatory requirements.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s Degree with a minimum of 12 years of prior related experience. Graduate Degree with a minimum of 10 years of prior related experience. In lieu of a degree, minimum of 16 years of prior related experience.
Preferred Additional Skills:
- Certified Lean Six Sigma Black Belt or equivalent
- Optical and/or Electronics Manufacturing experience
- Experience embedding advance quality concepts into New Product Introduction (NPI)
- Experience with ISO9001 and AS9100 Quality management system standards
- Experience working with the Defense Contract Management Agency (DCMA)
- Proficient with applied statistics in manufacturing.
- 10+ years of experience leading quality teams, developing budgets, monitoring expenditures, and developing root cause and corrective action.
- Experience building a quality focused culture aligned to mission critical products.
