Job Description:
We are seeking a highly skilled and motivated Specialist in Mechanical Engineering to join our Solid Propulsion System Design Group. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in the design, analysis, and testing of solid propulsion systems, with a focus on innovative solutions and continuous improvement. This role involves working closely with cross-functional teams to develop and optimize propulsion system components and assemblies, ensuring they meet performance, safety, and reliability standards. The candidate will contribute to the advancement of our cutting-edge propulsion technologies, requiring a strong foundation in mechanical engineering principles, a passion for innovation, and the ability to work effectively in a collaborative environment.
Essential Functions:
- Design and develop components for solid propulsion systems, including nozzles, casings, and propellant grains.
- Work with the analyses teams to ensure the performance and reliability of propulsion components.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including manufacturing and testing, to develop and validate prototypes and production units.
- Assist in failure analysis and root cause investigations to resolve design and manufacturing issues.
- Prepare technical reports, design documentation, and participate in design reviews.
- Ensure that designs comply with industry standards, regulations, and best practices.
- Stay updated with the latest advancements in propulsion technology and incorporate relevant innovations into design processes.
- Ability to obtain a US security clearance.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s Degree and minimum 4 years of prior Mechanical Engineering experience. Graduate Degree and a minimum of 2 years of prior Mechanical Engineering experience. In lieu of a degree, minimum of 8 years of prior Mechanical Engineering experience.
Preferred Additional Skills:
- Knowledge of industry standards and regulations, such as those from NASA, DoD, or similar organizations is a plus.
- Proficiency in CAD software (e.g., Creo, NX).
- Excellent problem-solving skills and the ability to work independently and as part of a team is a plus.
- Experience with propulsion system testing and validation.
- Experience with additive manufacturing techniques and their application in propulsion system components.
- Active US security clearance is a plus.
