Job Description:
- The RF Test Engineering position requires extensive system and component level troubleshooting skills. Additionally, experience in RF test equipment and spectral signal analysis test methodologies is desired. The qualified candidate must be able to work with minimal supervision utilizing documentation such as specifications, Engineering and Acceptance Test Procedures, schematics, part/wire lists, block diagrams and such.
- This position will require diagnostic and specification compliance testing of ELINT Multi-wavelength Interferometry system front-end and associated components, the function of which is the collection, conditioning and frequency down-conversion/up-conversion of signals of interest. The front-end collects signals-of-interest ranging in frequencies from 500MHz to 18GHz. The front-end designs consist of RF “custom build” and “off the shelf” hardware including, but not limited to amplifiers, couplers, mixers, power dividers, filters (ex. low-pass, high-pass, and notch), bit detectors, frequency discriminators, oscillators (ex. VCOs, crystal), frequency synthesizers and such.
Essential Functions:
- Candidate will be responsible for testing RF components, data collection, and corrective action recommendations for out-of-tolerance components.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s Degree and minimum 4 years of prior relevant experience. Graduate Degree and a minimum of 2 years of prior related experience. In lieu of a degree, minimum of 8 years of prior related experience.
- 3 years of related experience in the Radio Frequency (RF) technology, test methodologies and test equipment.
- Candidate must also be able to work overtime as required.
- Must be eligible to obtain a DOD Secret Security Clearance which requires US Citizenship.
Preferred Additional Skills:
- Basic Electronics Troubleshooting skills and understanding of complex AC/DC electronic circuits.
- The qualified candidate must be able to competently use specialized test equipment including, but not limited to, the following: network analyzers (vector and scalar), spectrum analyzers, signal generators, power meters, noise figure meters and other RF related equipment. The qualified candidate must also be familiar with MS Windows based computer systems and MS Office suite tools.
- Responsible for performing the integration and/or test of all components, ensuring electrical and physical compatibility to meet program technical, schedule and cost objectives.
- In support of system design activities, responsible for test and/or integration of COTS-based electromechanical systems from the system design phase through development, documentation, installation and commissioning of the completed system.
- Responsible for the physical and electrical compatibility of functional interfaces and first article product integration, ensuring seamless interface between the design and production of systems.
- Develops and implements both hardware and software system level test programs, plans, specifications, procedures and customer acceptance.
- Experience in RF test equipment and spectral signal analysis test methodologies is preferred
