What the role will involve
The responsibilities of your role will include the following:
- Provision of field service or local support to Air Traffic Control radar systems, in particular the Precision Approach/Airfield Surveillance systems and other Radar Programmes at multiple site locations (including overseas), including repair, maintenance and modification activities.
- Supporting fellow L3Harris Field Service Engineers in furtherance of contracted maintenance activities.
- Providing working interface between the Customer and L3Harris’s supporting organizations.
- Carrying out site surveys and production of site survey reports and documentation packages.
- Installation and commissioning activities on Sensors Group programmes including Precision Approach/Airfield Surveillance systems and other ATC equipment, including delivery of initial training to engineering and operational personnel.
- Decommissioning and site clearance activities on Radar Programmes including Precision Approach/Airfield Surveillance systems and other ATC equipment as required by evolving customer requirements.
- Support of flight checking and commissioning activities.
- Administrative tasks and other tasks as directed by Radar Programme Manager.
- Undertaking investigations and technical assessments in furtherance of contracted programme performance as directed by Radar Programme Manager.
- Development of modifications, husbandry and obsolescence packages to enhance the maintainability and supportability of the equipment.
- Identifying and reporting on equipment, system fault and trend analysis.
- Assisting with the development and delivery of technical training courses.
- Planning, writing, editing and verifying technical materials.
What you’ll bring
The role requires the following experience and skills:
- Technical background in electronic systems engineering.
- Technical understanding of military (and or civilian) radar equipment in Air Traffic/Air Defence environments.
- Ability to work on own initiative and possess effective judgement skills in order to maintain operational services in a safety critical environment
- Adaptable, flexible and responsive to business needs at possible short notice and in alternative locations
- Technically competent to work on a wide range of equipment and have a logical approach to problem solving
- Effective communication skills with the ability to present information accurately and succinctly to customers and suppliers who may not have the same level of operational engineering understanding
- Demonstrable understanding of radar/communications systems principles, theory and application in practice.
- Electronic engineering operations experience within ATM environment
- Knowledge of regulations relevant to Air Traffic Management Equipment
