Job Title: Senior Assoc, Electrical Engineering

The Associate Sustaining Electrical Engineer shall be responsible to assist with the design maintenance of products released to Manufacturing for ongoing production and/or production of spares under general supervision. Design maintenance of released products includes support for production problems, field problems, and customer-driven customization.  

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  1. Analyze and perform trend analysis on failure data collected from production testing and equipment returned to DEPOT from the field. 
  1. Provide support to lead specific failure related investigations – support corrective action, capture supporting technical documentation and perform verification of corrective action: integration and test, qualification, etc. 
  1. Perform schematic design and circuit level simulation supporting failure analysis and obsolescence related activities. 
  1. Examine datasheets for obsolescence or design deficiencies and provide design changes as required. 
  1. Participates in the Failure Review Board (FRB) to identify and prioritize customer problems. 
  1. Prepare Failure Analysis Reports on depot returned equipment. 
  1. Establishes appropriate links with Manufacturing and Quality Engineering to monitor the production processes and to identify and prioritize the problems that develop in the course of production. 
  1. Interfaces with the company’s engineering staff, supplier and customer personnel on program issues of technical concern. 
  1. Performs other duties as assigned by Management. 
  1. Ability to obtain a Secret Clearance.  

QUALIFICATIONS

  1. Excellent verbal and written communication, technical writing and presentation skills. 
  1. Must be familiar with Microsoft office (Word, Excel and Power Point). Familiarity with ORCAD and PSPICE is a plus. 
  1. Design familiarity with power conversion topologies and electrical components used in power switching applications is a plus. 

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE

Bachelor of Science degree in Electrical Engineering (B.S.E.E.) from four-year college or university required; and 0 to 2 years of experience and/or training in electrical engineering. 

LANGUAGE SKILLS

Ability to read, analyze, and interpret general business periodicals, professional journals, technical procedures, or governmental regulations.  Ability to write reports, business correspondence, and procedure manuals.  Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from groups of managers, clients, customers, and the general public. 

MATHEMATICAL SKILLS

Ability to calculate figures and amounts such as discounts, interest, commissions, proportions, percentages, area, circumference, and volume.  Ability to apply concepts of basic algebra and geometry. 

REASONING ABILITY

Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists. Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form.

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is occasionally exposed to fumes or airborne particles.  The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate though at time may require the use of hearing protection. 

The employee will be exposed to electrical power generating equipment, both static and rotating as well as motor driven and diesel engine/turbine engine driven generators 

In compliance with pay transparency requirements, the salary range for this role is $69,000 - $128,000. This is not a guarantee of compensation or salary, as final offer amount may vary based on factors including but not limited to experience and geographic location. L3Harris also offers a variety of benefits, including health and disability insurance, 401(k) match, flexible spending accounts, EAP, education assistance, parental leave, paid time off, and company-paid holidays. The specific programs and options available to an employee may vary depending on date of hire, schedule type, and the applicability of collective bargaining agreements.
