Job Description:
Associate Manager, Quality Management : Our team is seeking a QA Manager to support our Philadelphia, PA facility. This individual will be considered a key element of the Quality organization's leadership team. As a leader, you will have additional responsibilities beyond the typical supervisory activities. These activities will test your leadership and management skills, your work efficiency and the dynamics of problem solving.
This is a hands on position that requires the incumbent to lead, educate and support a Quality Inspector group as well as the calibration team, to assure that the Quality objectives of the operation are met.
Essential Responsibilities
This position will have responsibilities and perform tasks in the following areas:
- Directly supervises unionized hourly employees performing quality inspection duties in Receiving Inspection, In-Process Manufacturing Inspection, Assembly & Test Inspection, and Calibration
- Reviews inspection and production schedules and manpower resources. Assigns and supervises employees to maximize inspection objectives, maintain quality and attain output requirements.
- Audits, evaluates and monitors the capability of internal inspectors to assure conformance to product specifications and workmanship standards.
- Establishes training plans and assures appropriate training is delivered as required for inspection staff
- Ensures the personnel, equipment, and technical resources are available to enable inspector success through capital and operating expense planning
- Participates in cause and corrective action activities, failure investigations and special projects assigned in support of MRB (Material Review Board) and CAB (Corrective Action Board)
- Assure that Product Assurance Procedures (PAPs) are written and updated as required, Engineering Authorizations’ are implemented, QC processes (material receipts, First Articles, rejections, etc.) are maintained in timely manner in TipQA, Quality Control History Cards are initiated/updated, and Inspection Reports (IRs) are processed.
- During cross functional meetings, interface with company departments ensuring compliance to customers’ and company’s quality requirements.
- Coordinate QC activities with Government Representatives (DCMA) and Customer Source Inspectors when required.
- Provide necessary data/metrics to Quality personnel as requested to assist quality improvement activities, i.e., test results, inspection, analysis, trend reports, etc.
- Write/revise internal procedures and instructions as assigned.
- Manage quality inspection functions for assigned programs
- Perform other duties and assignments as directed to support the broad function and overall business objectives
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s Degree preferred, however, an Associate’s Degree along with Supervisory experience in a technical field with appropriate quality and manufacturing experience or appropriate ASQ Certification(s) would be considered
- Five (5) to ten (10) years’ experience in Manufacturing, Quality Control and/or Engineering
- Successful candidates for this position will have some combination of the following experience/knowledge:
- Prior leadership/supervisory experience.
- Experience with inspection equipment, including borescope, precision measurement equipment, and attribute gauging.
- Experience with test and Inspections practices and methods (in process, 1st article, receiving inspections, Non-Destructive Testing).
- Experience with calibrations requirements and controls for calipers, micrometers, height gauges, and other inspection equipment to verify conformance to prints.
- Thorough knowledge of ISO 9001, AS9100 standards and the ability to work and evolve process within them.
- Reading of blueprints, data, manuals, Quality Requirements Documents or other materials to determine specifications, procedures or instruments required for inspection.
- Hands-on working experience in a manufacturing environment and a corresponding understanding of manufacturing processes is essential.
Preferred Additional Skills:
- Experience with Mechanical and or Electrical/Electro-Mechanic Inspections
- First Article Inspection experience
- Knowledge of Electro Static Discharge (ESD) control and Foreign Object Debris (FOD) prevention systems
- Ability to make decisions and be a perfomance oriented / self-starter
- Exceptional interpersonal and communication skills, both written and verbal.
