About your next Challenge as a FPGA Developer:
FPGA Firmware Design Engineer to work with a multi-disciplined design team to design, develop, simulate, and integrate challenging FPGA designs based on given project requirements.
What will you do:
- Build FPGA models from RTL designs using synthesis, partitioning, and routing tools.
- Develop, integrate, test, and debug hardware and software collateral in simulation and FPGA models.
- Write tests, develop the test environment, and support verification of hardware and software/firmware.
- Develops and utilizes automation aids, flows, and scripts to support FPGA utilization.
- Use FPGA design tools to fit design, close timing, and improve fitting quality.
- Contribute ideas to further the innovation of FPGA development flows.
- Design, implement, integrate, and test digital systems specifically regarding FPGA technology.
- Develop Verilog, VHDL, HDL, and graphical designs for FPGAs.
- Integrate manufacturer IP FPGA cores (processor, ADC, DAC, etc.) into customized firmware architectures.
- Design and validate testbench routines for simulation of FPGA designs and sub-designs.
- Integrate firmware with target hardware with systems components and software.
- Generate time constraints for IP blocks and perform Static Timing Analysis.
Required Skills and Experiences:
- Bachelor’s degree or higher in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, or related field.
- Minimum 7-10 years relevant experience.
- Strong understanding of digital design principles and HDL programming (SystemVerilog, Verilog, and/or VHDL).
- Familiarity with industry-standard design tools particularly Xilinx Vivado – Vitis.
- Design build and test scripting experience (TCL, Linux Bash, Python).
- Knowledge of Digital Audio Signal Processing, and DSP implementation on FPGA.
- Experience with hardware debugging tools such as logic analyzers, oscilloscopes, and JTAG.
- An understanding of Static Timing Analysis and Timing Closure techniques.
- Knowledge of MPSoC devices and AMBA-AXI architectures is an asset.
- Knowledge of UVM – functional simulation is an asset.
- Experience with GIT pipelines is an asset.
- Experience with design Isolation is an asset.
- FPGA project documentation (Block Diagram, FSM Design, etc) is an asset.
Preferred Additional Skills:
- Strong organizational, analytical, and problem-solving skills combined with a strong technical presence.
- Work on problems of diverse scope, determining methods and procedures to be used on new assignments, and providing feedback and recommendations to other technical personnel.
- Able to work independently and in a team-based environment.
- Strong English written and verbal communication skills.
Eligibility Criteria (Mandatory):
- Must be eligible for registration with the Controlled Goods Program;
- Must be eligible to obtain and maintain a government of Canada Reliability status and Secret Level 2 / NATO Secret security clearance.
- Must be eligible to meet the requirements for U.S. International Traffic in Arms Regulations (ITAR).
